On the 15th of August that day
At 12:30 PM, I had felt that feeling stay by my side
The weather was still nice
It was mixed with light from the sun
And it told everyone that this strange phenomena had begun
I spoke to you at once, but we didn’t have a clue what it meant
“Well, you know that I hate all this heat”
That’s what you said to me as you idled by as this mood repeats
Then, as you chased after the stray cat, it started running into the
busy street up ahead
And in that one frozen instant the light turned red
In a flash a truck had sped across the street
As it hit you, you fell down, knocked right off your feet
Your scent was cast in the air, blood was splattered everywhere
I was frozen in time there gasping without a sound
Feeling that feeling within a haze of lies
The Heat Haze distorted what had met my eyes
As chirping crickets called out, my mind was cast here in doubt
And the blue sky then turned to black and went away
When I woke up all I heard was silence
And the ticking of the clock that counts on with a sound
What time is it now?
On the 14th of August, that’s today
At some time past 12, I got up and went on my merry way
I recall the annoying sound of a cricket calling out
But as you know this set of events is so strange
I dreamt that we were walking in this park about now in this exact
scene
“Hey, isn’t it time that we left?”
The second you stepped off the road to go cross the street
A solid object came down to a rest at my feet
From above came a heavy metal pole
That then pierced through your body with a bloody hole
The sound of windchimes weaving
The sound of your throat screaming
Filled up the air of that former-peaceful day that broke
In the unreal scene where silence seemed to ring
The shimmer of Heat Haze said “This is the real thing!”
As sight was blurred from my eyes
I looked to you in surprise
Why were you smiling as if this was all a joke?
All these times that my vision blackened out
All the heat would laugh at me as I would scream and shout
This recursion spans for decades now
I had realized how it was long ago somehow
In this story that is made up of cliché
I know that there is one outcome as the only way
Still beyond this summer date there must be another fate
In that instant I had pushed you to the side
And after a moment, the truck had hit me
The horror within your eyes, much like the pain of my tries
Reflected in the blood that sprayed out on the ground
If the laughing of that spiteful Heat Haze
Said “It serves you right” for surviving those days
Then you could say that this end was what should have then happened
But all of that now blurs to black and fades away
On the 14th of August right at dawn
This one girl got up and asked herself “What the hell is going on?
Nobody replied
“Well it seems that I have failed once more”
