Timing

Time just bends as it ebbs and flows
As this second hand clicks on and on
The way I can work while my shadow grows
And I realize the whole day is gone

Some days of our lives will slow to a crawl
Other’s hastily jump to their end
The way “now” and “then” melt or freeze in their place
The unreliability on which you depend

Though in the past I have slept deep for hours
And let time flash by in a dream
Today slumber felt like it was hour long
But only 20 minutes passed by, it would seem

I can only conclude that my mind is at fault
That time differs from what I would think
That I err with the seconds that tick on my wrist
That my watch and my head do not sync
